Until July 2017, documenting the seasons of coastal Dorset. I'm a complete amateur so don't trust I'm always right. If ever you see I'm wrong - whether with identifications or in anything else - do say! Meanwhile . . . I've now moved to Halifax in West Yorkshire. Click on the link below to collect the new URL. TREE FOLLOWING - MAY

Have you noticed how some trees are enthusiastically greening up while others are clinging obstinately to winter? It will be interesting to find out who has leaves and who doesn't. Magnolia people are likely to have flowers. Are there hawthorn blossoms where you live? How are the bluebells doing? And if bluebells don't live where you live - are there flowers under your trees?

Trees and Path in front of stormy sky. April 27th 2015.
I find the heat of summer hard - so I've been making the most of comfortable walking weather. This is a path near The Hardy Monument in Dorset. (Not Thomas Hardy the novelist but Vice Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy, famous for being Nelson's friend at the Battle of Trafalgar.) I'd just emerged from a short stretch of woodland where bluebells were getting ready to turn the earth blue. That was ok - but there was something extra special about the evening light out in the open and about the elegance of these more widely spaced trees. There was a rainbow between them too - a massive pillar of colour that turned out to be too shy to show up in the picture.

If you have become a Tree Follower in the last two months, I'd be glad if you were to check both you and your tree have arrived safely on the Loose and Leafy Tree Following Page. I'm pretty certain someone's details went missing while I was computer-less. If it was you - very many apologies.

Hi Lucy - another month gone already! Hopefully all our trees got through the recent frosts ok.

Hello Lucy any chance you can change number 4 to just read Liz's Stewartia. That's what I entered but it's appeared differently! Thanks, Flighty xx

Also the date in green print should read the 14th not the 7th! Flighty xx

I've missed March and April because my walnuts sit around leafless until late May (too boring for others, although not for us). I will be back home to take their pics on Saturday and hope to post (late as usual)on Monday.

Hello Alison. I've been surprised to see frost warnings on the weather forecast. I don't think there's been frost where I live - but there have been strong winds and forceful gusts which won't much have been appreciated by all trees.

Hello Mike. I've made the change to your link, as requested. And to the green date for the box closing. THANKS enormously for noticing this. If left it could have caused confusion.

Even without the rainbow showing up, the photo is lovely. Thanks again for hosting Tree Following!

Lucy your trees are just a bit ahead of ours...I love the view of that path and the trees...it is peaceful and beckoning. I will actually be profiling my tree in a couple of weeks with its background, growing conditions etc. Then in June or July I'll have more of a post for you.

I couldn't time the profile for this link up with crazy life taking precedent. But I have a bit of a glimpse of my tree just starting to break bud. I will have an early Stuck Foot coming up Monday.

It's great to see things moving in the right direction. It seems like it's been a long winter up here in Scotland. Although we've been getting frosts, I am hopeful things are a the turn for the good.
Thanks for hosting Lucy :)

That is a lovely view across the trees and hillsides, Lucy! The light is perfect, and I try to fill in with an imagined rainbow ;-)

Hi Lucy. April just whizzed by didn't it! That sky looked stormy on your walk and is lovely even without the rainbow. My field maple is filling out nicely now. Thanks for hosting!

Hi Lucy - This is my first month participating in your tree following meme. This is a perfect meme for me this year, as I've recently planted a young shade tree (Chinese Pistache) in my courtyard which I'm looking forward to tracking its transformation over the year. Thanks for hosting.

Thanks for hosting Lucy. The bluebells are out here now - sadly not under my tree but very close to it :)

The leaves on my tree following Acer are developing nicely. I have added a seasonal extra this month with photos of all the fruit tree blossom in Our Garden @19. Thank you for hosting the meme Lucy.

Can't believe another month has zoomed by. And this time I didn't just follow the tree, a wild goat followed me.

I can tell I'm not tree following in the garden this year. (Sheep could apply in both garden and hillside.)

All green here for at least the last couple of weeks Lucy. Doesn't everything look different in their bright green clothes?! Thanks for hosting

Whew! Finally manage to not only visit my tree(s), and take photos, but actually post as well!! And I got cake this time... It seems strange that rainbows, which are, on the face of it, the peacocks of the meteorological world, are so shy on camera.

I'm cheating this month and showing photos of some trees in bloom in Italy. Next month I'll be home in Quebec again and plan to write about my linden tree. In the meantime, I enjoy reading everyone else's posts. Keep them coming!

Flippin' 'eck, Lucy, you have SO many tree followers now! I really must get around ALL of them this month.
Hopefully I will, as it has been rather hectic at work the last couple of months but maybe easing off now and I can catch up.
Thanks again for getting me out and about and appreciating nature again :)

Lucy, I'm joining this meme this month and am looking forward to following my tree (Acer rubrum) for the next year. Already, this first post has gotten me to look much more closely at a tree that I have been living with for 25 years. Thanks for hosting this inspiring meme. -Jean

Hi Lucy! Our Magnolis is somewhat boring right now, but my wee girl is very excited to be watching it! She even picked out her own quote and took the picture. Hopefully June is a bit more exciting!

Hello Lucy,
This is the third time I am trying to post a comment; it is so frustrating to post from wordpress to blogger!
Just to say thanks. Hope the third time is a charmer...
