I used to think Sepia was cheating. Now, I don't. If black and white is ok - why not sepia too? Especially when it says something more about the season than full colour can on a dull day?

What marvelous pictures! I can almost smell the mushroomy aroma. Do you know what the fungi are? And I presume that is a mallard drake - the bum shot, I mean. Not that you would ever publish a bum shot!

Lucy ... Your blog is looking most awesome. I agree with Muddy Boots the header is a fab shot. In my pencil box I would find the 2nd photo in this post to be more chocolate and cinnamon. But that is splitting hairs. They are all lovely! Great job.

I wish it were possible to give individual blog pages different colours. Then I could do a whole post agsainst a dark brown background, with sepia photographs leaping out from the gloom.
Yes - it is the retreating back side of a mallard drake. I was really intending to photograph a group in a row but the rest, ducks and all, had dropped over the edge and into the water by the time the shutter clicked.
Of the names for autumn, I think 'The Fall' is the very best. 'Back End' is an odd term and rather inelegant I reckon!
