TREE FOLLOWING - AUGUST

Absent but happily not missing.

I'm having an unusual number of being-away-from-homes at present. Hence lack of posts. Hence a bald introduction to this month's Tree Following. A box and little more.

Hence a confession too; I'm thinking of changing my tree to one nearer where I live. I'd thought choosing one in an interesting location would make it extra interesting to visit. Instead it means I never have time to visit it at all!

And now for the box I'm bunging in in passing.

    Since becoming a Grandma, my garden has taken a back seat and I seem to be playing catch up all the time at the moment. Thanks for taking time out from your busy schedule for us.

    Life is much too busy, Lucy. With a house full of children and grandchildren, I retreated to a quiet corner to write this blog post. Thank goodness for quiet corners!

    I deliberately chose 2 trees that I can walk to, or drive to if need takes. Life is busy and I appreciate you organising this - I hope you get time to visit your tree soon.

    Are there any birch tree experts out here? I'm trying to nail down the species of birch. I think it's a River birch, but River Birches are native to the southeast. This birch is growing in the northwest, but it could have been transplanted from a nursery.

    I am too late, but hey ho. Like you, I think next year's tree will have to be closer. Mine's not exactly a million miles away but it does mean a short drive or a long walk, and sometimes that's not so easy. I should be more determined!
